Welcome to Our Life Plan Community in Greenville, SC
Our 175 acres of rolling hills, green space, and lakes have a history. As the first Life Plan Community in the area, Rolling Green Village was once part of a working dairy farm owned by Hoke and Mildred Smith. The vision for bringing a high-quality local senior living option to Greenville began more than 35 years ago, after Hoke became ill and needed more care than the couple could provide themselves. Working with local church leaders, the Smiths donated the land to create Rolling Green Village.

Gary Judd
Board Member Since 2023
Gary is a former CFO, financial analyst, and banker. He is currently also a member of the Finance Committee at Rolling Green Village.
Why I Serve: “I’m dedicated to using my business experience to support Rolling Green Village’s mission and make a positive impact for residents and staff.”
Gary E. Schlansker
Board Member Since 2019
Gary is the former CEO of the YMCA in multiple regions, including Evansville, Indiana, St. Louis, Missouri, and Greenville, South Carolina. While at the YMCA, he chaired several boards and committees. He is a proud Elder in the Presbyterian Church and an Eagle Scout.
Why I Serve: “I’m passionate about community building and supporting the well-being of seniors at Rolling Green Village.”
Kelly King Wessel
Board Member Since 2022
Kelly is the Owner of Wessel Forensic Accounting, and a former Certified Fraud Examiner and Internal Auditor. She is the author of Fraud Prevention and Detection for Homeowners Associations, and a current volunteer Guardian ad Litem for Adult Protective Services.
Why I Serve: “Inspired by my mother’s positive experience as a resident, I wanted to contribute to enhancing the lives of older adults at Rolling Green Village.”

Dr. Valerie Brooks-Madden
Board Member Since 2018
A native of Greenville, Dr. Brooks-Madden is currently the Division Manager/VP for Evans GC – Greenville Division, with 20 years in engineering and project management for major real estate and construction projects. She is also a Rotarian with Greenville Breakfast Rotary Club, a distinguished Toastmaster, member of Girlup Gvl board of trustees, and member of Democratic Women of Greenville County.
Why I Serve: “I love the Greenville community and saw joining the board as an opportunity to give back to an organization that has served our community for many years.”
